Remove a PDF password
If you know a PDF’s password and are tired of typing it, save a copy that opens without one. It happens on your own device, so neither the document nor the password is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Choose the protected PDF, or drag it onto the box.
- Type its password.
- Press Remove password and download the unlocked copy.
You need the password
This tool removes a password you already know. It does not guess or get round passwords, and it will tell you if the password you type is wrong. Only use it on documents you are entitled to open.
Why remove a password?
Banks, pension providers and payroll systems often send statements and payslips with a password. Removing it from your own copy makes the document easier to store, merge with others, or send to someone such as a mortgage adviser.
