Privacy notice

FilePresto is built so that we learn as little about you as possible. This notice explains the personal information we do handle. Last updated 21st September 2026.

Who is responsible

Brian Rooney, trading as FilePresto, of Office 1, Technology House, 9 Newton Place, Glasgow G3 7PR, is the controller of the personal information described here. Contact: [email protected].

Your files

Your files are processed inside your own browser and are never sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see them, and we keep no copy of them.

Visiting the site

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare receives the ordinary technical details of each request, such as your internet address, browser type and the page asked for, in order to deliver the page and protect the site against attack. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or cookies. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure website for this processing.

Buying a Day Pass

Payment is processed through Stripe Managed Payments. Onelink (Sold through Link, LLC) is the merchant of record for the transaction and sends your receipt. Stripe and Onelink process your payment and order information under their own privacy terms and make order information available to FilePresto. FilePresto never receives your full card details. We use only the information we need to confirm your purchase, send your confirmation email, provide and support your Day Pass, deal with refunds and disputes, and keep required business and accounting records. We rely on the performance of our contract with you and on our legal obligations for this. Your confirmation email is sent through Cloudflare's email service.

When you return from the payment page, your browser sends us the payment reference so that our unlock service can confirm the payment. We do not store the reference. The pass contains its expiry time and a pseudonymous identifier derived from the transaction. It does not contain your name, email address or card details.

We keep accounting records for as long as tax law requires. We keep other personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which we collected it.

Storage on your device

If you buy a Day Pass, FilePresto stores the pass in your browser so that the paid feature remains unlocked. While you go to the payment page, your browser also briefly remembers which tool you were using, so you can be taken back to it; this is deleted when you close the tab. This storage is necessary to provide the Day Pass you requested and is not used for advertising, analytics or tracking. You can remove it by clearing FilePresto's site data, although doing so will remove the pass from that browser.

Where information goes

Cloudflare, Stripe and Onelink may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to our processing, and to ask us to restrict it. Contact us at [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
