Which quality should I pick?
128 kbps is fine for speech and keeps files small. 192 kbps is good for music and most other uses. 320 kbps is the highest MP3 quality. An MP3 at 192 kbps takes about 1.4 MB for every minute of sound, so a four-minute recording comes to roughly 5.8 MB.
Choosing a higher quality than the video's own sound cannot improve it; it only makes the file larger.
Which videos work?
MP4 and WebM videos work in current browsers. MOV files from iPhones usually work too, depending on how the phone recorded them. MKV, AVI and WMV files are not supported yet.
Only use videos you have the right to
This page converts files that are already on your device. It does not download videos from websites, and it should only be used for recordings you own or have permission to use.
Questions
How long a video can I convert?
Videos up to about an hour are comfortable on a computer. Longer videos need a lot of memory while they are being converted, and a phone may run out sooner.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The work happens inside your web browser, on your own device. You can check: once this page has loaded, switch off your internet connection and it will still work. The page also tells your browser to refuse to load anything from, or send anything to, any other website, so nothing can be sent elsewhere even by accident.
