MOV to MP4
MOV is the video format of iPhones, Macs and QuickTime. Turn MOV files into MP4, which plays on Windows, Android, smart TVs and every website. Everything happens on your own device, using the video engine built into your browser, so your video is never uploaded.

Play everywhere, or keep the original?
Recent iPhones record video in HEVC, a newer format that some computers, older televisions and websites cannot play even when the file is called MP4. Play everywhere converts that video to H.264, which plays on everything; it takes longer, and the picture is encoded again at high quality. Keep the original video moves the video into an MP4 file without changing it: very fast and with no loss, but it may not play on older devices.
If a MOV already holds H.264 video, as many do, it is always moved across unchanged, whichever you choose.
HDR videos
Many recent phones record in HDR (high dynamic range). Converting HDR to ordinary video changes how it looks, so the page does not do that: choose Keep the original video, which leaves the picture exactly as it was.
What is kept
The main video and its sound are kept. Subtitles and any extra sound tracks, such as a second language, are left out, and the result says when this has happened.
Limits
Videos are converted in the browser's memory, so very large files are refused before anything starts; the page shows the largest size tested on your kind of device. Long videos take a while, and the page must stay open and on screen while it works, particularly on a phone.
The page reads what is inside each file before it starts. Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound, which many camcorders use, is read by FilePresto's own converter, on your device. A few formats cannot be converted yet: WMV videos, and Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3) and DTS sound. If a file has sound that cannot be read, the page stops and says so, rather than making a silent video; you can then choose to convert the video without its sound.
Questions
Will I lose quality?
Not if the video is moved across unchanged, which the result tells you. When it has to be converted, it is encoded at high quality and most people will not see a difference.
Can I convert videos on my iPhone?
Yes. Open this page in Safari, choose videos from your photo library, and save the MP4 files to Files.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The work happens inside your web browser, on your own device. Before your file is opened, this page locks itself: from then on your browser refuses to let it fetch, upload or send anything at all.
