GIF to MP4
Many apps and websites will not take a GIF, or turn it into a still picture. Turn it into an MP4 video instead: usually far smaller, and accepted almost everywhere. Everything happens on your own device, and nothing is added to the video.

Why turn a GIF into a video?
Instagram, TikTok and many other places accept videos but not GIFs. An MP4 is also usually far smaller than the GIF it came from, because modern video compression is much better than the GIF format.
What is kept, and what changes
Every frame is kept, shown for as long as it is in the GIF, at a steady rate of 10 to 50 frames a second where the GIF's timing allows, and otherwise 30. A GIF plays over and over by itself; a video plays once, so you can choose to repeat the animation up to ten times. A GIF that does not move becomes a video of three seconds.
A video cannot be see-through, so any see-through parts of the GIF become white or black, as you choose. The video has no sound, because a GIF has none. Very small GIFs are enlarged to at least 128 pixels on their shorter side, because many apps refuse tinier videos.
How it works
The video is made by your browser's own H.264 encoder, the kind of video every phone, computer and television can play. Current versions of Chrome, Edge and Safari can make it. Where the browser can read each frame of the GIF itself, as Chrome and Edge can, it does; otherwise the page uses ImageMagick, the well-known picture program, running inside your browser; it is about 5 MB and downloaded before your file is opened. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I make the video loop?
A video file cannot ask to be looped; the app playing it decides. Some apps, such as Instagram, loop videos by themselves. To make the video longer, choose to play the animation several times.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The work happens inside your web browser, on your own device. Before your file is opened, this page locks itself: from then on your browser refuses to let it fetch, upload or send anything at all.
