EPUB to PDF
Turn an EPUB ebook into a searchable PDF that is easy to read, print and share. The book is read and laid out on your own device, so it is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose your EPUB book, or drag it onto the box.
- Pick a page size and text size, or keep the defaults.
- Press Convert to PDF and save the result.
What you get
A PDF with the book’s chapters, headings, pictures, lists and tables, laid out on pages of the size you choose, with page numbers. The text is real text, not pictures of text, so you can search it, select it and copy it. The book’s contents list becomes bookmarks in the PDF, and links inside the book, such as footnotes, still take you to the right place.
Each chapter starts on a new page. If the book has its own fonts, they are used where they include every character needed; otherwise a clear book font is used instead. Choose Book size (A5) for something that reads like a paperback on screen, or choose A4 or US Letter to suit the paper you plan to print on.
Books that cannot be converted
Books with DRM. Many books bought from online shops are locked with DRM (copy protection). FilePresto recognises this and says so; it will not try to get round it. Books from Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks and publishers that sell DRM-free are fine.
Fixed-layout books. Picture books, comics and some cookbooks are designed page by page rather than as flowing text. These are not supported yet.
Kindle books. Kindle files (MOBI, AZW3 and KFX) are a different format. This tool reads EPUB books only.
Some languages and subjects. Books in Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts work. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Hebrew are not supported yet. Mathematical notation is converted to plain text and may not reproduce the original formula correctly. The page warns you if your book may be affected.
Your book stays on your device
The whole conversion happens inside your browser. The page locks itself before the book is opened, so nothing in it can be sent anywhere. An EPUB is a small website packed into one file, and some contain scripts or links to other websites; FilePresto reads the book’s pages without running any of that, and nothing the book refers to online is fetched.
Check the result
Ebooks are made in many different ways, and a PDF has fixed pages where an ebook flows. Most books convert well, but unusual layouts may not match the original exactly. Look through the PDF before you rely on it, particularly tables and pictures.

Is the text in the PDF searchable?
Yes. The words are real text, so you can search the PDF, select passages and copy them.
Why does my book say it is protected with DRM?
The book has copy protection that restricts which apps can open it. FilePresto cannot convert DRM-protected books and does not try to remove the protection. DRM-free EPUB books convert normally.
How long does it take?
Most novels take a few seconds. Long illustrated books can take longer, and on a phone the largest books may run out of memory; a computer will usually manage them.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The work happens inside your web browser, on your own device. Before your file is opened, this page locks itself: from then on your browser refuses to let it fetch, upload or send anything at all.
