Crop a PDF
Trim the white margins from a PDF, or cut its pages down to just the part you need. Crop every page the same way or only one, and see the result on the page before you save.
How to use it
- Choose your PDF, or drag it onto the box.
- Drag across the page to draw the area to keep, type the margins, or let FilePresto trim the white margins for you.
- Press Crop and save, then open the copy and check it.
Two ways to crop
Choose the margins yourself when you want the same cut on every page, for example to take the wide margins off a scanned book or to cut a slide down to its picture. Drag across the page, or type how many millimetres to trim from each edge.
Trim the white margins automatically when pages have different amounts of empty space. Each page is trimmed on its own, to just outside its words and pictures, and blank pages are left alone.
Cropping hides, it does not remove
Cropping hides content outside the selected area; it does not securely remove it. The hidden part is still in the file, and anyone with a PDF editor can undo the crop. Use Redact PDF for sensitive information such as names, account numbers or addresses.
Questions
Will cropping make the file smaller?
Usually not by much, because the hidden part stays in the file. To make it smaller, compress the PDF afterwards.
Can I crop just one page?
Yes. Choose Only the page shown, pick the page, and crop it. The other pages are left exactly as they were.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The work happens inside your web browser, on your own device. Before your file is opened, this page locks itself: from then on your browser refuses to let it fetch, upload or send anything at all. You can check: once the page has loaded, switch off your internet connection and it will still work. How the lock works.
